Crossroads - The Cheat Sheet
Crossroads is book #2 in the Southern Arcana series. While its story stands, for the most part, on its own, a little knowledge of the players and what happened to them in the previous book might help those jumping in ahead of the game--or those looking for a refresher!
EVERYTHING AFTER THIS POINT COULD CONTAIN SPOILERS FOR CRUX
The Main Players
Nicole Peyton: Also known as Nick. Yes, with a k. Don't be fooled by her park ranger chic style and her big bad hiking boots, this five foot nothing shapeshifter lass is really the Princess of the Wolves.
Her daddy is the Alpha, which makes him the leader of the Conclave and the top wolf in the United States. Uninterested in power, Nicole ran away to New Orleans where she bought a popular bar and lives a carefree life free of political machinations...for now.
Derek Gabriel: Psychic powers seem to run in Derek's family, but he turned out to be your garden variety human--until a rogue wolf attacked him two years ago. Wolves who are made instead of born occupy the lowest rank in shifter society, leaving Derek out in the cold.
Life may be complicated, but at least he still has his construction company that he runs with his best friend, Andrew. Unfortunately he also has a pretty serious crush on the most elite female wolf in the country.
Michelle Peyton: Nick's twin sister is not your average wolf. Once in a great while a shapeshifter family with a history of magic will produce a Seer, a shapeshifter who also possesses incredible magical power. Proof that your bloodlines aren't pure would be bad enough, but Seers have a habit of being driven insane by their power. The fact that her father is the Alpha kept Michelle from being killed as a child, but her life is heavily restricted: no unauthorized travel, no friends, no emotional attachments and no sex. Ever.
Kat Gabriel: Derek's cousin got his generation's helping of the super-duper psychic power. As an empath she has a preternatural understanding of the people around her, a talent she makes good use of at her job at Holt & Jacobson Investigations. Unfortunately, being a very breakable human in a world full of very dangerous creatures puts her life at risk. A lot.
